Definition of Embarrassment According to The Little Jokester

While flying from one activity to another, this super mom gets quite a bit of insight into the mind of a typical seven year old. Today's main topic...embarrassment. As many of you may know, I don't get embarrassed. I've done it all...dropped my drawers while carrying things in the house and allowing the entire street to see my "business"...laughed so hard I pee my pants (thanks Renea)...fallen off a sidewalk on a major street in downtown Indianapolis with a skirt on, stay laying on the ground laughing with my legs flung everywhere again showing off the goodies. Now that I think about it, it seems as though my goods are shown quite a bit...but I digress.

Anyways, I, being the most wonderful, thoughtful, nurturing and loving super mom, thought TLJ would enjoy a surprise. This particular surprise isn't of the food variety, so the acceptance from TLJ is questionable. However, I stumbled upon this really cool camo floppy hat with a pocket with a snap and a string that goes under your chin. It's like a down-unda hat. Okay, it's WAY COOLER than I just described. To get my little one out the door this morning, I told him I had a surprise in the car for him. Instantly intrigued, he rushed about his business and off we went. When I told him it was a hat, he was so excited. (A.D.D./side note moment: just two weeks ago we searched high and low for the perfect cowboy hat for his class that HAD to have a strap under the chin. It was a big deal. The kid loves hats.) When I gave him the hat, he put it on his head, fiddled with it a bit. He said, "I don't like this. I'm embarrassed." Embarrassed...by a hat. He said if he wore it to school, the kids would make fun of him...really??

I told you that story to tell you this. TLJ used to wear yellow rubba boots for TWO YEARS straight...rain, shine, summer, spring, winter, fall, church, school...honestly, those boots smelt FUNNNNNNNKY. This from a kid who could wear his black cowboy boots with powder blue gym shorts, a sleeveless shirt while playing with a hot pink nerf football. THAT was just 03/17/09. And this stinkin cool hat is embarrassing. And so it starts...soon it will be that I'm an embarrassment (of course all in his imagination...I AM COOOOOOL!)...then it's drop me off two blocks away, I'm embarrassed. I don't know if I'm ready for this next step...

Goodbye first grade...hello world!

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Consider this my literary ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the family blog. Never had a blog before. I thought this would be a good opportunity to use my creative "genius" to keep track of our stories (so I don't forget)...our experiences...and most importantly how God works through our lives throughout the day. Please notice we have changed the names to protect the innocent. Super Heroes can't let their identity out...

Big Papa
As most of you may know, BP was diagnosed last week with CVID (Common Variable Immuno Defenciency). When the doctor reviewed BP's labwork and such with him, he said that he has never seen a person alive with the lab results and issues BP has gone through. HELLO! Praise the LORD! Not only did God bless us with keeping my Big Papa on this earth a little bit longer, but this is FINALLY an answer to our prayers! A diagnosis that will lead to the healing, knowledge and medicine to help BP live a more fulfilling life. He had his first infusion Saturday. He has gained so much energy after just one treatment. The doctor said that he will feel like a million bucks in 3 months or so.

Super Diva Girl
We went and watched SDG's game tonight. They didn't have the scoreboard on and you all know I have ADD...so I have NO CLUE what the score was. I do know they won. I've been to quite a few softball/baseball games. Never seen the chicken dance done in a circle with both teams after it was over...what do chickens have to do with softball???

The Little Jokester
Yesterday was Mother's Day. I joined super forces with mega mom and galactica grandma as we conquered the Red Lobster. It seems as though all of the southside decided this was THE place to eat. TLJ story #1: I ordered shrimp and asparagus. I asked TLJ if he wanted to try my asparagus. He, of course, said, "I don't like asparagus." Big Papa said, "You don't even know what an asparagus is." His reply, "Yeah-huh. I have veggie tales!" What do you say to that folks...what do you say?!

TLJ and BP went to Star Trek. "This would be a particular chunky one's SECOND time to visit said movie." TLJ wanted to go to school and tell his teacher, "Live Long and Prosper!" I guess it could be worse, right?!

Super Mom-Chunky Style
Just truckin on planning VBS in June and working on school. The transition to school has been good. Big Papa has been ever so supportive to make sure I have time to do homework, group work, etc. He hasn't complained once if anything has been an inconvenience. I'm so blessed to have such an awesome and loving hubby!! I'm really bustin' tail to graduate with a 4.0. I know this is my first class and I don't want to kill myself over it...BUT it is a HUGE goal to walk with honors.

VBS: We have had a late start with VBS. Any prayers to the Big Guy would be greatly appreciated. I want to do His will for His Kingdom through our VBS!

Scripture for the Day
"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:4-5

This is a pretty wordy first blog entry, huh. Well, I would love to say future blogs will be shorter, but I can not make any guarantees. I love to tell a good story...I love my family...I love to tell good stories about my family. I guess read at your own risk!

God Bless,
